Emerald Court’s new “Connections” is aimed at making every day meaningful.
Emerald Court, a Kisco Senior Living community in Anaheim, is announcing its expansion expect to open in mid-April 2021: an all-new Memory Care unit named “Connections.” This space will include 16 thoughtfully designed studio apartments, a private courtyard, a musical lounge, and updated dining configurations, all which are exclusive to residents of the Memory Care wing. The purpose behind Emerald Court’s newest addition is to promote the independence and dignity of their guests needing more specialized attention, as well as to maintain their sense of comfort and safety. Residents often experience a change in care needs throughout their time in senior living communities, and “Connections” makes it possible for those needs to be met without transition to another facility.
Libbi Hash, National Director of Wellness and Memory Care for Kisco Senior Living, says that “Connections” will help seniors with cognitive care needs continue to feel at home at Emerald Court. “Before this addition, we would have to transition out our seniors who started developing cognitive issues since we did not have the facilities to care for them,” says Hash. “Now that we are building this brand-new community, we will be able to offer that full continuum of care for Emerald Court residents who may need it.”
The Art of Living Well®
Kisco Senior Living communities base their dedication to senior care around their program The Art of Living Well®: The 6 Dimensions of Wellness. These 6 elements include physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, social, and vocational wellness. They focus on giving seniors a well-rounded foundation of care, and it is what sets their senior living communities apart from the rest.
“After a year of quarantine and the resulting isolation and sometimes depression due to COVID-19, the need for extended cognitive care across senior living is apparent,” says Patricia Gustin, Executive Director of Emerald Court. “Seniors with cognitive care needs who have been in isolation required care from their family members who are now having to go back to work, leaving those seniors in need of attentive, proactive care. Connections is our memory care neighborhood where residents can feel safe, engaged, entertained, and most of all, will have purposeful daily activities that will make them feel like every day is meaningful.”
The Kisco Senior Living project team, Douglas Pancake Architects, and Deacon Construction all collaborated on this project to ensure that the needs of memory care residents would be met wholistically. Emerald Court’s new Memory Care facility “Connections” started construction in August of 2020, and it is set to open in April of this year.
